What are our rules?

BCAC By-Laws

Article I

MEMBERSHIP

Any person desiring membership in the B.C.A.C. shall present a written application to the club secretary or any board member. All members shall abide by all club by-laws.

Classes of membership will be Family and Single. Family will consist of a spouse and dependents up to and including 17 year olds. No dependents under 16 years of age shall be permitted on range unless with adult supervison.

EXPULSION

GOOD CAUSE for expulsion shall be defined as finding by the Board of Directors that any member of the Brazos County Archery Club is guilty of any act which is determined to cause dishonor or embarassment to the club, damage or destruction of club or LAND OWNER property, reckless actions which result in injury to other club members or actions which would jeopordize the sport of archery in any way.

FINES

The Board of Directors shall have authority to impose a fine upon any member as a lesser penalty for any of the above acts of $25.00 after a majority vote by the general membership.

MEETING DATES

Regular club meetins shall be held quarterly at a time and location that will be announced in quarterly newsletters, board meetings will be held monthly perceding the monthly club shoot.

DUES

Yearly dues will be regulated by the Board of Directors and will become due on January 1st of each year.

ARTICLE II
QUORUM

A quorum for the Board of Directors shall consist of 2/3 of the board members.

The board shall be responsible for the orderly management of club business and overseeing up-keep of the Brazos County Archery Club's range.

The board shall also keep the general membership informed as to the issues discussed at board meetings, and also changes at the state and local levels that effects this club or archery in general.


ARTICLE III
DUTIES OF OFFICERS

The duties described below shall not be exclusive but only exemplary.

PRESIDENT

The president shall be the chairman of the Board of Directors and shall preside at all club meetins. He shall have the authority to appoint all committees as necessary for the club funtions. He shall have the authority to sign checks as does the Secretary/Treasurer for club business. 

VICE-PRESIDENT

Shall act as president in his or her absence. Will be in charge of work parties and schedule such parties as he sees fit. Will see that all range facilities are upkept and repaired or replaced as necessary including 3-D targets and practice targets.

Shall have the authority to appoint committees for execution and organization of club shoots.

SECRETARY-TREASURER

Shall be responsible for recording the procedings of club and board meetings. Shall maintain a checking account and present a financial statement at all club and board meetings. Write checks for club business. Assist President and Vice-President in handling of general club business.


ARTICLE IV
SAFETY

A. No person shall be allowed on the range whom appears on drugs or intoxicated or consuming alcohol or drugs.

B. No non-member can use the range or any club facilities without supervision by a club member.

C. Always leave one member in front of your target while looking for lost arrows. Never go behind a target while shooting alone to look for lost arrows.

D. Never release an arrow when you cannot see where it will land. Never shoot straight up into the air. 

E. Never shoot a broken or cracked arrow knowingly.

F. Remember that a bow and arrow is a dangerous weapon and should be treated with as much respect as a loaded gun.

G. Never point and draw a bow toward another archer.

H. Never brace another's bow without permission. Never draw another's bow without permission.

I. Protect your sport by being careful at all times and make sure of your target before shooting.

ARTICLE V

MISCELLANEOUS

A. Archer of the Year: To be awarded to the one member who best represents the Brazos county Archery Club throughout the year with his or her accomplishments at archery tournaments around the state and which best emplifies and promotes archery on all levels within the Brazos County Archery Club. To be nominated and voted on by the general membership.

B. Bowhunter of the Year: To be awarded to the one member who legally takes game animals, during the hunting season year August 1--July 31, with the highest point total.

C. Big Buck of the Year: To be awarded to the one member who has taken the largest Whitetail Buck within the state of Texas as scored by Pope and Young rules.

D. Outstanding Trophy of te Year: To be awarded to the one member who legally takes the most outstanding game animal of the year, not restricted to the state boundaries. To be voted on by the general membership.

E. Club Member of the Year: To be awarded to the one member who during the year best represented the club in an unselfish manner to better the club and all related club activities. To be voted on by the general membership.

AMMENDMENTS TO THE BY-LAWS
10/23/97 ARTICLE I: FINES: Requires majority vote by Board of Directors

ARTICLE I: MEETINGS: Meetings will be held subsequent to the monthly club shoot. Additional board meetins can be scheduled at anytime by a member of the board providing there is an imperitive reason and as long as ALL other board members/officers are notified at least 2 weeks in advance.

ARTICLE I: DUES: Memberships are good for 1 year at which time each member must renew or lose membership.

ARTICLE V: MISCELLANEOUS:

BCAC CONSTITUTION
ARTICLE I
NAME

The name of the association shall be "BRAZOS COUNTY ARCHERY CLUB" OF BRYAN/COLLEGE STATION TEXAS and abbreviated B.C.A.C.

ARTICLE II
PURPOSE
  • To foster, expand, and promote and perpetuate competitive archery as a sport.
  • To encourage, promote and perpetuate archery as a family sport.
  • To conduct a continuous educational program designed to acquaint the public with archery using the bow and arrow in recreation and as a weapon suitable for the hunting of legal game.
  • To foster and perpetuate a spirit of good fellowship and sportsmanship among all archers.
  • To operate as a non-profit organization with all monies collected through dues and fees returned to the club for operating cost and continual club and range improvements.
    ARTICLE III
    MEMBERSHIP
    There shall be two classes of membership:

    A. FAMILY MEMBERSHIP -- Granted to any member with immediate family.
    B. SINGLE MEMBERSHIP -- Granted to any single member.
    ARTICLE IV
    OFFICERS - BOARD OF DIRECTORS

    Officers shall consist of a president, vice-president, and secretary/treasurer. The Board of Directors shall consist of the past president, president, vice-president, secretary/treasurer, and five club members that are elected to the Board.

    PURPOSE

    The purpose of the Board of Directors and officers shall be to conduct the business of the Brazos County Archery Club and be responsible for its general welfare.

    VACANCY

    Should a vacancy occur during the year, the position will be filled by a majority vote of the Board of Directors

    ELECTION

    With the exception of the past president, the terms for officers and board members shall be one year and new elections held at the December club meeting.

    ARTICLE V
    AMENDMENTS

    All proposed amendments to the constitution must be made in writing and must be presented to the Board of Directors before presented to the general membership. Said proposed amendment shall require a 2/3 majority vote by the general membership for adoption.

    ARTICLE VI

    In the event THE BRAZOS COUNTY ARCHERY CLUB, for any reason, ceases to exist and all archery activities halted, all debts shall be paid in full. All possessions of the club shall be auctioned to the public. All proceeds from this auction and any funds left in the club's account shall be given to a charitable organization.
